Card Description

The Climate Hero Card Game includes a total of 48 cards, divided into three main categories: Resources, Technology, and Phenomena.

To add excitement to the game, there are also 6 Trick Cards and 6 Power Cards.

The cards focus on three key elements: Air, Water, and Soil, and are further categorized based on their environmental impact into Positive and Negative cards.

All 48 cards are inspired by real-world events and situations, making the game not just entertaining but also educational. The primary aim is for players to learn about climate and environmental issues in a fun, engaging way as they play!

Here’s how they are distributed

* Resources Category :

>> 6 Positive Cards (2 for Air, 2 for Water, 2 for Soil)

>> 6 Negative Cards (with the same distribution)

* Technology and Phenomena Categories:

>> Each category also contains 6 Positive Cards and 6 Negative Cards, distributed across Air, Water, and Soil.

Each card has a value and provides important environmental information, which players can learn gradually as they play.

Special Cards:

  1. Power Cards:

>> Includes 3 Positive Power Cards (called Good Cards) and 3 Negative Power Cards (called Bad Cards).

>> These cards have the highest values in the game.

  1. Trick Cards:

* There are 6 Trick Cards with unique functions, which are explained directly on the cards.

How to Play the Climate Hero Card Game

  1. Game Name: Save the Planet

Difficulty : Easy

Age : 4+

Children learn numbers, enhance spatial (visual) intelligence, and gain awareness about the environment and climate.

Setup:

  1. Separate the Trick Cards (black and orange cards) from the deck. These Trick Cards are:

War, Human Rights Violation, Sanction, Green Treaty, Free Trade, Good Governance.

These 6 cards are not needed for this game.

  1. From the remaining 42 cards, divide them into Positive Cards (21 cards) and Negative Cards (21 cards).
  2. Shuffle the Negative Cards and place them as a stack in the middle.
  3. Shuffle the Positive Cards and distribute 5 cards to each player if there are 2–4 players.

* If there are 5 players, give 4 cards each.

* If there are 6 players, give 3 cards each.

After distribution, 1 or more cards (Positive Cards) will remain unused. Keep them aside.

How to Play

  1. Start by drawing a card from the Negative Card stack and display it for everyone.
  2. The goal for all the players is to match that Negative Card with the corresponding Positive Card from their hand to “Save the Planet.”

The player who has the matching Positive Card should quickly play it to neutralize the problem. For example, if the card on the table shows (-3 Air), the required card to play is (+3 Air).

  1. If no player has the matching Positive Card, the problem remains unsolved. In this case, another Negative Card is drawn from the stack and displayed.
  2. The first player to run out of cards is the Winner.

  1. Game Name: Hand Zero

Difficulty : Normal

Age : 7+

This game can be played by 2 to 8 players. At the beginning, each player is dealt a specific number of cards, ranging from 4 to 10, depending on the number of players. The remaining cards are placed face-down on the table to form a deck.

Game Rules:

  1. Starting the Game:

>> The player who receives cards first will start the game by playing any card.

>> The next turn moves in from right direction.

  1. Playing a Card:

>> Players must match the element (Air, Water, or Soil) or category (Resources, Technology, or Phenomena) of the previous card. They can also match both.

>> Card Sign: The card played must have the opposite sign of the previous card.

For example:

If the first card is Positive, the next card must be Negative, then Positive, and so on.

If a player wants to play a Power Card, they only need to match the opposite sign (Positive or Negative). Matching the element or category is not required. After a Power Card is played, the next player can play any card, and the game continues following the usual rules.

  1. Using Trick Cards:

>> Trick Cards can be played at any time.

>> Each Trick Card has a special function written on it, and players can follow the instructions during the game.

  1. Drawing from the Deck:

>> If a player does not have a valid card to play, they must draw one card from the deck.

>> If the drawn card is playable, they can play it immediately. Otherwise, the turn passes to the next player.

  1. Reusing the Deck:

>> If the game lasts a long time and the deck runs out of cards, the played cards can be reshuffled to form a new reserve deck.

  1. Winning the Game:

>> The first player to run out of cards is the 1st Winner. The game can continue to determine the 2nd and 3rd Winners.

>> If players decide to end the game early, the player with the fewest cards will be declared the winner.

The Back Story

Environmental education and climate education are often considered serious and complex topics. However, the real issue is that we haven’t yet presented environmental education in a fun and engaging way suitable for children. This very thought led to the creation of the Climate Hero Card Game.

At first glance, Climate Hero Cards may seem text-heavy, but the game itself is based on symbols, numbers, and colors. With these three simple elements, players can easily enjoy the game. The best part? These cards can be used to create multiple games as desired!

As we play, we’ll occasionally read the texts on the cards and gain valuable knowledge about the environment and climate.
